I ordered delivery on Postmates without ever trying because delivery was only $0.99. I was very pleasantly surprised with how delicious and authentic it was. My husband and I just moved from Chicago where authentic Mexican is on every corner and we have been struggling to find our spot in Nashville. I ordered a carne asada torta and Gordita and was very happy with both. Also, whatever that green hot sauce is that comes with it, it definitely has a kick but it is delicious!! We will be adding this restaurant to our normal rotation.

Black bean and cheese pupusas were so tasty and the enchiladas verdes were served in a huge portion. Will definitely return

I've been hesitant to write this review, because I don't want to let the secret out. Belen is one of my favorite places to get affordable Mexican and Latin American food in Nashville.

First, you have to find it! It shares a parking lot with Easy Pawn. Look for the baby blue awning. When you walk inside, you'll wonder if you're in the right place because you're in a market. Keep going, though. Go all the way the back left, and there, you'll find the restaurant.

Everything here is some of the best I've had in Nashville, including Jalisco-style tacos (spend an extra $0.25 per taco and upgrade to handmade tortillas), tortas, gorditas, pupusas, their daily blue plate special, horchata, aguas frescas, micheladas, and their occasional one-plate lunch buffet special. Their red and green squeeze bottle salsas pack a lot of flavor and heat. This is a place where it's easy to over-order and eat, leaving you needing a post-lunch nap. It's hard to spend more than $10 here, making it an incredible value.

The only reason that I'm giving it four stars instead of five is that the service, although very friendly, is not very fast. If you're in a hurry, go somewhere else. But if you can afford more than an hour lunch break, this place is definitely worth checking out!

Stumbled across this place when looking at our options on DoorDash recently. Would never have considered walking in the door based on the exterior appearance. Walk through the more or less abandoned store shelves to the restaurant off the back left of the store. My husband and I arrived for Saturday breakfast not really knowing what the setup was and we still don't. They had a hot table full of a variety of items served cafeteria style. Apparently it was a buffet but we didn't catch on until we had already stuffed ourselves with plate #1. He got a coke from the store and I received a huge agua de pina that was included with my buffet so his was $1.00 more. The food was delicious although none of it was customary breakfast fare. I'm still unsure if you could order eggs instead but we were very happy with what we received and plan to go back. Never saw a menu - just some items written on a dry erase board by the drinks that we didn't notice until after the fact. Homemade tortillas were on the thick side and attributed to a too filled stomach to try a large variety of items.
